The recent Shazam: Fury of the Gods reshoot rumors have been debunked by director David F. Sandberg on Instagram. There were claims online that the release date of the Shazam sequel was pushed back to give time for extensive reshoots. However it appears that someone took a shot at this one, and missed according to Sandberg himself.
Here is what Sandberg had to say in response to a fan question about the rumored reshoots. Alternatively, you can find this image at the Reddit link Here.
“No, I’ve seen reports that Shazam is being ‘retooled’ but it’s not true. The cut has been locked for quite some time and we’re doing final mix, color and VFX right now. Everyone is happy with the film and we’re not going to work longer on it just because of the release day shift. They [WB/D] figured Aquaman’s previous date was better for us and that’s the reason we moved.”
Sandberg well and truly called out this rumor as being false in that post. However, that is one of the things I love about both Sandberg and fellow DC filmmaker James Gunn. Both filmmakers will call out the BS rumors online relative to their own projects. Alternatively, when either Sandberg or Gunn stay quiet, that’s when you know a rumor has legs.

As for the current business decisions being made at Warner Bros/Discovery, I’m not going to comment much. If I did, I would not know where to begin? Will WB/D course correct the DC into a juggernaut? Or, are we just going to have this endless cycle of cancelled projects and reboots? For now we will have to wait and see, ans for this could go either way. As for Shazam: Fury of the Gods, the movie seemed in an almost completed state before all these recent shake ups. The again, that didn’t really help Batgirl much, did it?
What do you think of his comments as David F. Sandberg debunks the Shazam: Fury of the Gods reshoot rumors? Thoughts below as always.
