Skeleton Crew Characters Will Not Debut In Mando Plus Movie Talk From Jon Favreau

Skeleton Crew characters will not debut first in Mando, Jon Favreau also offers some movie talk around the MandoVerse.

Executive producer Jon Favreau says that Skeleton Crew characters will not debut first in Mando, Favreau also offers some movie talk in connection with the MandoVerse he is overseeing. Variety caught up with the actor/director/writer/producer about his career and of course we go to the present where Favreau serves as executive producer of all the MandoVerse shows alongside Dave Filoni.

So far this mini universe has The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Ashoka, but Skeleton Crew will join that list when it’s released this year. When it came to Fett and Ahsoka, both characters made their MandoVerse debuts in The Mandalorian before their respective spin offs. However Favreau confirms that the characters we will meet in Skeleton Crew will be new and not previously introduced. In other words, don’t expect Jude Law to show up in Mando Season 3 folks.

Favreau was also asked about whether the MandoVerse could ever spin out into a movie? There has been some speculation (not rumors) about where this is all leading. Perhaps some overarching event, and whether that could work better as a movie? Here is what Favreau had to say abut the potential of movies. If you’re into that idea, this may sound positive.

“There’s always an opportunity when you have a set of characters and stories that people connect with that you could cross media into different areas. Marvel does it quite effectively,” he says. “It’s just a matter of where our time should be spent and what the appetite of the audience is. With all these stories we’re telling, it definitely is a full-time job just keeping this going with what we’re doing now. Television has a much different rhythm and schedule than film does.”

Favreau also spoke abut having a connection through Disney to Kevin Feige and everything that happens at Marvel. Favreau of course directed the original Iron Man that started the MCU. Though he also plays Happy Hogan in several movies as well as I’m sure you know.

“I speak to [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige regularly, and we’re always watching each other’s stuff,” he says. “Clearly I’ve worked in the MCU and I’m dealing with people who worked in ‘Star Wars’ for a long time. There’s a lot of overlap, and certainly in the fan base. I think one informs the other, that’s just the nature of storytelling, on the technological side as well as stylistically.”

What do you think of Jon Favreau’s movie talk for the MandoVerse, right idea or wrong? Are you happy the Skeleton Crew will not debut in Mando initially? Leave any thoughts below as always.
