Skydance New Media Moves Forward With New Interactive Marvel Video Game with Confirmed Writer On Board

Skydance New Media

Last week, Skydance New Media has announced a new interactive division of Skydance Media helmed by award-winning writer and director Amy Hennig. The announcement concluded with its first project and partnership with Marvel Entertainment to “develop a narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game, featuring a completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe.”

It marks the first initiative from the new AAA game studio, which was formed by Hennig and Electronic Arts veteran Julian Beak to pioneer a new category of story-focused interactive entertainment—a groundbreaking convergence of games, film, and television.

Since its announcement, writers and the Internet made wild speculations on which Marvel characters will appear in this inaugural anticipated game.

The overall picture became clearer when FatMan Beyond co-host and writer Marc Bernardin revealed on an episode of the podcast that he was a writer on the game. He had been writing on the project for “the better part of a year.”

Although FatMan listeners made multiple guesses from Daredevil to Hawkeye, and to even Howard the Duck. One guess was revealed to be that it “nailed it dead.” As of now, the Internet speculated it as either Ant-Man or Fantastic Four with more enthusiasm with the Fantastic Four property.

“I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game,” said Hennig, president of Skydance New Media in an official statement. “The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery, and thrills of pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”

Hennig is well-known in the video game industry for her direction and writing with four Uncharted games, which won numerous video game awards. Currently, she is also writing on Forspoken, a project with Square Enix.
