With all the drama surrounding the upcoming Star Wars spinoff, Solo: A Star Wars Story, it’s been difficult for Lucasfilm and Disney to properly advertise the film as they would any other movie. As such, the actual details we have about this film are virtually nonexistent.

We have yet to see any real footage from the film, and as far as the plot goes, we’ve had next to nothing offered to us by the studio…until now. With 2018 underway, Disney has shared with us its yearlong preview, and in it, the studio revealed the first official synopsis for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Check it out below:

“Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”

Admittedly, I’m not incredibly impressed here. More than anything, it’s as though the copywriter was contractually obligated to hit a handful of buzzwords that include “Millennium Falcon,” “galaxy far, far away,” “scoundrel,” “criminal underworld,” and “unlikely.” As a fan of the character, if you had asked me to write something off the top of my head involving Han Solo, chances are I would have come up with something like this.

Cynicism aside, there are a couple of gems here — namely the confirmation that the film will chronicle Han first meeting both Chewie and Lando, both of whom become incredibly important in the story lately.

What do you think of this synopsis? Are you with me on this, or do you think I’m being far too cynical? Let us know down below!
