Zoe Saldana Addresses Jame Cameron’s Comments On The Superhero Genre

Recently, legendary director James Cameron expressed his views on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the superhero genre in general, the comments didn’t come off as very friendly toward the MCU, saying there are there are other stories to be told and that superhero fatigue is a real concern.

Actress Zoe Saldana, who plays Gamora in the MCU and is also involved in the Avatar films, recently spoke with the Los Angeles Times and was asked about Cameron’s comments, here’s what she had to say:

“My advice for people is to read full articles and not just believe a soundbite. Because usually, soundbites are very mean-spirited and they’re just done for the intention of getting more likes and more views — it’s not really with the intention of educating and informing the public. So for all those educated intellectuals out there that like to stay current with news, just read the full article and you will understand where James Cameron was coming from. I know that all the Marvel producers did because they read it.”

While Cameron’s comments did come with hint of bitterness, perhaps Saldana is correct in saying a second look at what Cameron said is warranted. After the record-breaking performance by Avengers: Infinity War at the box office last weekend, I think it is safe to say that at the very least, Cameron was incorrect about superhero fatigue. Sure, some may have grown tired of the MCU, but it appears that the vast majority are still interested in superheroes.
