Solo: A Star Wars Story, while not at the top of many fans’ lists, was at the very least a fun Star Wars. Considering the brutal production the film endured, it turned out a lot better than most of us thought it would. While little has been said about a sequel, Ron Howard, who came in to finish the film after four months of shooting with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, says that the world of solo and additional characters may one day be revisited.
Howard recently appeared on the Lights, Camera, Barstool podcast. He discussed that while no projects are currently being developed, the criminal underworld of Solo may be explored in the future. You can check out what he had to say below.
“No rumblings, though, and this is not a spoiler or anything, but I think there is interest in those characters. I think there’s interest in the gangster world somewhere down the line. But I can assure you there is nothing being developed right now for a movie or Disney Plus. But, one great thing is there has been a lot of affection shown for Solo, and so of course that keeps boding well for them to eventually turn it around.”

I would be ok with this if it were to be a series. I think the stories from this part of a galaxy far, far away would need to be told in a Disney+ series. However, with the right story, a trilogy might work as well, though a television series is preferable. Sure, there are some stories which are better suited to the runtime of a film. But I think most stories would benefit from a longer format which allows for more in-depth storytelling.
