The Sonic the Hedgehog film has helped the character leave his mark on the big screen. The film isn’t going to win any Oscars, but that’s ok because it never set out to nab a statue. For what it is, it was pretty good, at least I enjoyed it. One particular aspect I enjoyed was the surprise appearance of what of Sonic’s buddies, Tails.
The film’s director, Jeff Fowler, recently spoke with SYFY WIRE and talked about how he loved seeing the audience’s reactions to Tails during screenings of the film. You can check out what he had to say below.
“Of all the screenings that I would pop in for, seeing people’s reaction to Tails showing up at the end … nothing could have prepared me! To see people respond and having these kids just shout at the screen, and just yell their little brains out. I just never got sick of it. I just loved it. And the idea that we made this whole movie, and we didn’t have a single scene of Sonic and Tails together. It’s incredible, but it also is so exciting [for a sequel].”
Now that Sonic has a decent entry into the film world, can we do something for Mario and Luigi? The live-action Super Mario Bros. film we have (and nothing against Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo) is just awful, and the franchise deserves a chance at redemption.
My above request stems from me being more of a Nintendo kid than a Sega kid growing up. I did enjoy playing Sonic as I enjoyed the film, but #justiceformariobros.
Did you enjoy the addition of Tails to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie?
