Sony Developing Suite Of Marvel Shows, Will Be Led By Silk

Sony is developing a whole suite of Marvel shows.

If you had dreams of seeing the Marvel and Spider-Man characters revert back to Marvel Studios on film and TV, I’m about to disappoint the hell out of you. Yes, we already know that Spider-Man is sticking around with Sony on the film front in perpetuity. They may have a deal with Marvel Studios to utilize Peter Parker in the MCU, but beyond that, it’s clear they plan on clinging to the property for dear life. We need no further evidence of that than this recent piece of news.

According to Deadline, Sony is developing a “suite” of TV shows based on the Marvel characters they control the rights to. The outlet states this has been long-in-development and that it is getting just a bit closer to reality.

The studio is in talks with Amazon to distribute all the shows. While we don’t know most of the titles they will be making, we do know that the shows will be led by Silk. Silk is one of the many Spider-People characters. Her real name is Cindy Moon, and she is a Korean-American superhero created back in 2014, and she is characterized by a red mask that covers the lower half of her face. Atypical’s Lauren Moon has apparently written an adaptation already.

While these shows are farther along than they’ve ever been before, there are still a lot of issues to resolve, such as multi-platform rights for characters. While Amazon does seem like it’ll be a main home for streaming, the outlet states the suite is expected to hit a linear platform before taking up residence at Amazon. Regardless, it does seem like the Marvel’s Defenders shows are an inspiration for what this will eventually become.

Silk is interesting because she is expected to pop up in a Spider-Women-centric Spider-Verse movie. Of course, whatever this project becomes will likely be wholly separate from that project.

How do you feel about Silk getting her own TV series? What other Spider-Man-adjacent characters would you like to see get their own show? Sound off down below!
