Sony’s Silver & Black Set To Begin Production This March

With Venom already in production with Tom Hardy starring as Eddie Brock, set for an October release date, Sony is already swinging for the fences in their “Spider-Verse”… or “Venom-Verse”… You know, their universe filled with Spider-Man characters but without Spider-Man? That universe!

Not to be outdone by Marvel Studios at Disney or the X-Men franchise at Fox, Sony is already nearing production on the second film for their Spider-Man-less Spider-Man Universe, Silver & Black.

Silver & Black features Silver Sable and Black Cat taking on some classic Spider-Man villains of their own, seeing as how the web-slinger is absent. The film is to be written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Beyond the Lights, Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger pilot).

That Hashtag Show reports that Sony is now officially moving forward with production on the film, which carries the working title of Tri-Border. Silver & Black is set to begin production on March 5 and run through mid-June in order to hit its release date in 2019.

The film will be primarily shot in Atlanta, where Venom has been mostly shot, though that film is said to take place mainly in San Francisco, so it is unlikely Silver & Black will actually be set there either. Silver & Black will also shoot on location in Mexico.

Silver & Black will hit the big screen on February 8, 2019, just four months after Venom. What Sony has next in their Spider-Man pipeline is anyone’s guess, though at this rate we may be hearing another announcement sooner rather than later.
