Peter Macdissi and Sophia Lillis play the side-by-side characters to Uncle Frank, a new Amazon original.
The Synopsis:
In 1973, teenaged Beth Bledsoe (Sophia Lillis) leaves her rural Southern hometown to study at New York University where her beloved Uncle Frank (Paul Bettany) is a revered literature professor. She soon discovers that Frank is gay, and living with his longtime partner Walid “Wally” Nadeem (Peter Macdissi) — an arrangement that he has kept secret for years. After the sudden death of Frank‘s father — Beth’s grandfather — Frank is forced to reluctantly return home for the funeral with Beth in tow, and to finally face a long-buried trauma that he has spent his entire adult life running away from.
Sophia Lillis’ pursuit for acting started at the age of seven while taking acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Manhattan. After playing a recommended role at NYU she signed up with an agent and started participating in short films. Her breakthrough film was with the horror film, It and It Chapter Two. In between Lillis received her protagonist film playing, Nancy for Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. Earlier this year she was seen playing Gretel in the fantasy, horror, Gretel & Hansel.
