Spider-Man: Happy Hogan’s Role In Far From Home

Dammit, I love the MCU. There are many great aspects about it, but one aspect I love about it is the fluidity of it — how the various characters can be mixed and matched. For example, Black Widow started off as an Iron Man character before becoming a mostly Captain America/Avengers character. Hell, even Iron Man himself switched to a character with no allegiances to any one franchise.

Now, the same can be said of Happy Hogan. This guy was one of the first ones to be around in the universe in Iron Man, but he’s since gone on to play a key role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and will continue on in Spider-Man: Far From Home. But how exactly will be used in this new movie? What will be his overall purpose?

“Similar to Peter, who lost his mentor in Tony… you know, Happy has been there since the very beginning. I think a big part of this story is trying to find your place in the world if the center of your world is gone. I’ve always liked Happy as a character, and to use him to explore some of these things was really exciting. To explore a world without Tony, who was the man that created Iron Man.”

What I like about this quote is that it doesn’t just make it seem like he’s a simple supporting character. He is a guy with his own goals and missions, and his own growths to make in the wake of Tony Stark’s death. Makes me wonder if we’ll be seeing Pepper Potts at some point.
