Stallone Reveals A Rocky 4 Director’s Cut Is Coming For The 35th Anniversary

I’m not sure I ever imagined typing these words but Sylvester Stallone has revealed an upcoming Rocky 4 Director’s Cut for the 35th Anniversary. Rocky 4 is not a movie one would imagine would ever get a Director’s Cut, but here we are. Check out the Instagram post from Sly below.

Rocky 4 was released on January 24th, 1986. That means that we should probably expect to see this Director’s Cut materialize early next year. Stallone also shared some outtakes of himself and Dolph Lundgren as Ivan Drago. Presumably, there will be some extra scenes added in by Stallone for this new cut of the movie? However, there is one aspect that will be getting removed. Unfortunately it’s not a change most fans seem happy about. Stallone revealed he no longer likes the robot bought for Pauli in Rocky 4. Many fans have since replied to Stallone’s post to beg the star to keep the robot in. It remains to be seen if Stallone will listen to fan requests on this topic or not?

Rocky 4 Director's Cut

I’m not going to try and pass Rocky 4 off as a good movie, I’m not sure it is. However, it was perhaps one of those bad movies that you fall in love with anyway? For me, in 1986, Rocky 4 was a classic, though, I was only 8 years old at the time. That’s the kind of movie Rocky 4 was and it has a place in pop culture, especially to people of my age group.

To this day, I have a work out playlist, for exercising and the majority of the tunes on it are from Rocky 4. The soundtrack to the movie was cheesy as hell, but I dare you to find more motivational work out music. The ‘Training Montage’ theme from Rocky 4 I truly believe can give anyone working out an extra 10%. That’s how well it does its job for me, and yet people of a different generation might just not get it at all?

As for what I’d like to see from a Rocky 4 Director’s Cut, I have no idea? How do you improve the perfect 80’s boxing cheese fest that is Rocky 4? For me, less robot means less cheese and when it comes to Rocky 4, that’s what I’m essentially looking for.
