Wasp Will Get Equal Billing In Ant-Man 3 Says Director

I’m not surprised by this, but director Peyton Reed has confirmed Wasp will get equal billing in Ant-Man 3. For now of course, we are still referring to this upcoming movie as Ant-Man 3 just because it’s the third Ant-Man movie. However, the last movie was called Ant-Man and the Wasp. One would assume the third movie will be called Ant-Man and the Wasp: (Subtitle), simply because Ant-Man and the Wasp 3 might be confusing to casual fans.

Reed confirmed this news in a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment.

“They’re a partnership, and she’s a very, very important part of that. And that was a very gratifying thing, I guess technically we were the first Marvel movie with a female hero in the title of the movie. Finding that balance in that movie, that’s very important to me because that’s very much a men’s playing field, historically. But that’s really, really changing now in a great way.”

As to what the title might be? Well, until we know what the movie is about, your guess is as good as mine? I just can’t see it ending up Ant-Man and the Wasp 2, or 3. Captain America, and Thor have both had subtitled sequels rather than a numerical value. This would hardly be ground-breaking for the MCU. However, the ground-breaking part, is Reed’s insistence that Ant-Man and the Wasp are a team and therefore should get equal billing.

Wasp will get equal billing in Ant-Man 3

I genuinely have nothing much to say on this. In fact, I’d have been rather annoyed to find that the third movie was going back to simply Ant-Man again. There was some rumblings that Disney might reduce he role of Evangeline Lilly in the threequel, but there was never any substance to those jungle drums. Ant-Man 3 is currently scheduled for a 2022 release. However with the way things are going right now, I’m always tentative about any release dates, even official ones.

Are you happy Wasp will get equal billing in Ant-Man 3 like I am? Whether that’s a yes or a no, please lets us know in the usual spot below.
