According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bily Dee Williams will be returning to his iconic role of Lando Calrissian in next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX, which will be the final chapter of Disney’s new sequel trilogy. The character of Lando Calrissian will be one of the last iconic characters from the original films to appear in the new trilogy, and based on the current track record of returning cast members odds are Lando won’t survive the events of the film (of course, that little piece is speculation).

Donald Glover recently portrayed a younger version of the character in the anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story to the delight of many fans, and the dismay of others. Actress Keri Russell was also recently added to the cast of Episode IX in an unknown role that is said to be action heavy.
Shooting on the film begins this summer with a reease date set for December 20, 2019. Of course, at this time, all we can do is speculate as to what part Calrissian will play in the film, I just have my fingers crossed we aren’t returning to Canto Bight.
Speculation on Williams’ return ramped up a few days ago when the actor changed a scheduled appearance at a sci-fi convention.
