Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is almost upon us, I will be seeing the sequel trilogy finale this Thursday, and remember we will have spoiler-free reactions on Friday’s LRMornings as well as details roundtable debate on the movie in a special The Last Call Podcast later on Friday afternoon. Whilst a great deal of this movie’s plot details have been leaked already, I believe at this point I am the only LRM staffer who has read those leaks, so there will be many surprises in store for my colleagues.
It looks as though there may be some surprises for me as well, recently director J.J. Abrams talked about the movie with Sora News 24, and he may have revealed a surprising little cameo appearance. The interviewer was asked by Abrams who his favorite character from Star Wars was after declaring his as Han Solo. The interviewer responded by saying Ahsoka Tano (who has only appeared in animated form so far), to which Abrams replied,
Abrams: “Hmmm, Ahsoka, huh? Well then you’ll probably want to watch closely during The Rise of Skywalker.”
Interviewer: “Wh-whoa-wait-whaaaaaaaaaat?”
Abrams: “Hahaha, well, enjoy the movie!”
That’s both a bold reveal and a bold cameo, I guess I’d be wondering what the pretty strong with the Force Ahsoka has been up to and why she is only appearing at this stage. Ashoka would have been a very interesting character to have appear in this trilogy, but I’m not sure whether a blink and you’ll miss it cameo will be meaningful in any way. Where is would welcome an Ahsoka cameo far more would be in The Mandalorian, an earlier timeline where Ahsoka would not be as old and could give some guidance as to what to do about the Baby Yoda situation.

I guess it won’t be long now till we find out, so if you cannot wait to see the film and find out if Ahsoka is in it or not, and in what capacity, be sure to listen to our The Last Call Podcast on Friday afternoon, just be wary as spoilers will be discussed.
