When Disney collected its biggest trophy in the Star Wars franchise, I was extremely happy. I figured based on their collaborations in the past, there would be no one better to take over Star Wars than the House of Mouse. I was also pleased to learn that Kathleen Kennedy, who was a pupil of George Lucas’ (until she turned to evil) would be running the show, as I’d seen her name flash on the screen in some of my favorite films for years.
Wow, just how wrong was I about that one? I was more wrong than Tony Stark was in Captain America: Civil War. Now, I put forth a lot of snarky malarky towards Kennedy, but most of it is in jest.
However, today the snark is strong and genuine as Kennedy has revealed that moving forward, get this, the Force will be a huge part of Star Wars, check out what she had to say below.
“What the Force means lying ahead, I think is Star Wars. It certainly is a part of what Episode IX is. But the Force is a huge part of the conversation about where we’re going and what is the future of Star Wars. And once we move on from Episode IX and we start telling new stories, the force is the foundation of Star Wars.”

While writing this article I realized my snarcasm was misplaced, the question was what caused what I find to be an obvious answer, so Kennedy is not to blame. And before you beat me up in the comments. I understand there are stories to be told from a galaxy far, far away that will not have any Force users, but who wants to watch those anyway? I know, I know, lots of people do, and actually I would be one of those people, though I prefer the Jedi vs. Sith dynamic over the Rebels vs. Empire.
So, sure, while it’s somewhat obvious that the Force will be part of the franchise moving forward, being reassured is still comforting.
