Recently we learned that Rosario Dawson was playing Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian Season 2. Now, there is a rumor that an Ahsoka Tano spin-off series is in early development. Read on for more details.
Rosario Dawson being cast as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian Season 2 was quite a surprise. Deadline‘s initial report did say an Ahsoka Tano spin-off seemed possible. However, Star Wars Unity yesterday released a story saying sources had informed them that an Ahsoka Tano series is already in the works. The outlet claims the show is still in early development, but that the plan is for Ahsoka Tano to get her own Star Wars show.
This would match with former Bob Iger’s comments that the immediate future of Star Wars would be on TV. The former CEO if Disney also hinted at some possible spinoff characters from The Mandalorian. It would make perfect sense for a character as big as Ahsoka to pivot into her own story after appearing first in El Mando. What that story would entail, what Ahsoka’s journey would be post-Return of the Jedi is unknown.

If this rumor is true then it would be the fourth confirmed live-action Star Wars show in development. The Mandalorian Season 2, the Cassian Andor show, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series are set to appear on Disney+. For this fan, the one I most look forward to seeing is the Obi-Wan show. Maybe that’s because I’m not a huge Ahsoka fan? I recently caught up with The Clone Wars, and haven’t started Rebels yet, maybe Ahsoka will appeal to me afterward?
As always I’ll await each show and judge them on their quality. The truth is, Star Wars as a franchise is one I’ve lost a lot of love for recently. Saying that, I did really enjoy The Mandalorian, so there remains some hope, even if it’s a fool’s hope.
