Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Rumored To Be Delayed Till 2024 | Barside Buzz

According to the latest Buzz, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is rumored to be delayed until 2024.

According to the latest Buzz, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is rumored to be delayed until 2024. No official date was ever set for Skeleton Crew on Disney+. However, the show was showcased as being set to appear in 2023. Rumors had the show aimed around November or December this year. I’m pretty certain those rumors were accurate, but that was pre-strike.

According to Bespin Bulletin, the show has now slipped to some time in 2024. This would actually make sense. The same thing has been just announced as happening with Marvel’s TV series by trades. Here is what BB had to say.

“Sources have informed me that Skeleton Crew has been delayed until an unknown time in 2024. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks attempting to gather more information, but I didn’t get much outside of its apparent delay. One person I spoke with mentioned that the series COULD be delayed by an entire year, looking at a November 2024 release, but I could not get that information confirmed by a second source, so do not take that possible window as a fact.”

More Star Wars Delays?

The outlet then goes on to say that one source has informed them other shows could be delayed significantly. Mentioned here are The Acolyte, Andor Season 2 and The Mandalorian Season 4.

“One source mentioned that the current schedule of Star Wars live-action content is in flux and fluid due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, which means other series planned for 2024 such as The Acolyte, the high republic era series created by Russian Doll’s Leslye Headland, a series I’ve heard Lucasfilm are confident in, along with the second and final season of Andor, could both suffer delays. We know thanks to comments from Andor creator, Tony Gilroy, that the series was aiming to release in August of 2024, but that release is now uncertain and likely delayed – probably into 2025 I’d imagine.”

Andor paused production shortly after the SAG-AFTRA strike began, but only had a few weeks left to film according to reports. The Acolyte I had previously heard was aiming to release in the second quarter of 2024, but this now seems unlikely. I expect a delay for The Acolyte, but nowhere near as significant as the one Skeleton Crew might have. However I’ve heard that The Mandalorian season four was due to release in 2025, this was before both strikes, and I’m still hearing 2025 for the fourth season.”

You have to say, this all feels pretty logical given the current status quo. Andor is way behind, with a ton of filming left to go. The Acolyte was wrapped, but then so was Skeleton Crew and it’s being delayed it seems.

At this point, my guess is that Ahsoka is the last Star Wars live-action show till next year. Perhaps there is a desire to aim Skeleton Crew at the holiday window? If so it could mean that The Acolyte leap frogs into being the next Star Wars show to air. For now, the best thing, for any move beyond finished films with dates, is to wait and see. Delays I buy, having solid dates after that, I don’t, not yet.

What do you think as Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is rumored to be delayed until 2024? Thoughts below as always.
