Order 66 or Clone Protocol 66 is one of the darkest moments that we have seen in Star Wars. The animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, gives us a different perspective on the effect that the protocol had on some of the clone troopers and systems in the galaxy. In case you haven’t seen it yet, Star Wars: The Bad Batch follows an elite group of elite clone troopers with genetic mutations known as Clone Force 99. They had first been introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
With the galaxy falling apart under the new rule of the Empire, these troops decide not to fall in line. This puts them in a very new and strange situation. They will now need to fend for themselves and look for food and supplies on their own. Something that they had never had to deal with before. Not only that but the Empire and others are looking for them. In their journey across the galaxy, we see what the effect of the Empire has done to several systems.
Here is the synopsis for Star Wars: The Bad Batch
“Star Wars: The Bad Batch” follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in “The Clone Wars”) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch—a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army— each possess a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.
One of the characters that is featured in this series is the Kaminoan doctor and scientist, Nala Se. She had served the republic throughout the Clone Wars. In her home system of Kamino, she played an integral role in creating the Republic’s army. She was also one of the few beings that was aware of the biochip that made the Clone Protocol possible.
LRM Online’s Emmanuel Gomez spoke with actress Gwendoline Yeo. She provided the voice for Nala Se not only in this series but in Star Wars: Clone Wars as well. During our conversation, she helped us get to know Nala Se better as well as where and how she found her voice for her. We also got to get into the choices that many characters were forced due to the protocol. It’s always fun to talk Star Wars, especially with someone so close to one of their series.
