Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker – A Familiar Name Now Has A Writing Credit On The Film

It just over a month, a story four decades in the making will come to an end. Having directed the first film in the new trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, J.J. Abrams returns to close out the saga, after the original Episode IX director, Colin Trevorrow, exited the franchise due to creative differences.

As it turns out, while Trevorrow and frequent writing partner Derek Connolly left the project long ago, the Writers Guild of America, is of the opinion they still deserve a “story by,” credit on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Considering when Trevorrow left, this raises a number of questions, but mainly, what elements from the Trevorrow/Connolly version did Abrams and co-writer Chris Terrio decide to keep?

Often times, these kinds of things eventually come out much to the delight of nerds like us who enjoy knowing from which writers specific ideas and elements came from, this is of course so that we can blame whoever is responsible for the stuff we don’t like.

WHle Trevorrow hasn’t said much on why he’s no longer involved with Episode IX, not specifically anyway, one would assume that information will at some point, come to light. It’s also likely at some point we will know most all of what Trevorrow had planned, and what really caused him to leave the film, whether it be the rumored reason of needing Luke Skywalker to be alive, or Emperor Kennedy not being pleased with where he was planning to take the film.
