While fans won’t be back in Hawkins, Indiana until some time next year, that doesn’t mean that we won’t occasionally get vague updates on the new season of Stranger Things. Speaking at the PaleyFest, executive producer of the show, Shawn Levy made it know that Stranger Things 3 will be set in 1985, and that Steve Harrington will again be taking on the role of a fatherly figure:
“We’ll definitely get to see some more of Steve Harrington in season three, and I’ll just say we won’t be abandoning the Dad Steve magic. I don’t want to say much more, but I literally feel that we were walking along and we stumbled onto a gold mine with Dad Steve.”

According to Levy the third season, or part three, will be set right smack dab in the middle of the 80s.
Steve’s role in Season 2 was one of the aspects that I enjoyed. For me, the second season paled in comparison to the first season. I’m not saying it was awful, it still had a lot of nostalgia and the 80s type storytelling, it just didn’t bring a whole lot that was new. Steve has certainly come a long way from being Nancy’s douche of a boyfriend, and has now risen to one of the show’s more liked characters.
