Stranger Things: Social Media Hints Indicate That [SPOILER] May Not Be Dead

Stranger Things

Disclaimer: This post contains massive spoilers for Stranger Things 3.

This past week, Netflix dropped the latest season of their ratings juggernaut Stranger Things, and by and large, fans seem to be happy with what the show brought to the table. It had plenty of fan-servicey character interactions, hot, sexy Mind Flayer action, and of course, plenty of fun little scares. Oh yeah, and Russians were the bad guys, so there’s that. But we can’t mention the season without mentioning one key thing.

Hopper died. Maybe. Maybe he died. It’s not clear that he died. The implication here is that when the machine got set off by Joyce is that he was disintegrated along with others…but we didn’t actually see him die, per se. In the post-credits scene, it is hinted at he is the “American” that is being spared.

But, apparently, there are even more hints. Over the past week, actor David Harbour has been changing up his Twitter profile pic daily to a number that eventually comes out to 618-625-8313. If you call the number, you get the voicemail of local conspiracy theorist Murray Bauman from the show.

Here’s what he said:

“Hi, you have reached the residence of Murray Bauman. Mom, if this is you, please hang up and call me between the hours of 5 and 6 pm as previously discussed, okay? If this is Joyce, Joyce, thank you for calling, I have been trying to reach ya. I have an update. It’s about, well, it’s probably best if we speak in person. It’s not good or bad, but it’s something …”

What’s it about?! I think there’s only one thing it can be about…Hopper’s fate. As we know, Eleven herself burst into dust, and that didn’t ultimately result in her death, so who’s to say the same can’t be said of Hopper?

What do you think of this theory? Do you think Hopper is alive? Let us know your thoughts down below!
