Superman: Legacy Cast Together In BTS Photo Shared By Director James Gunn

Director and co-DCU Chairman James Gunn denies recent claims of a massive Superman: Legacy budget.

Director James Gunn shared a BTS photo of the main Superman: Legacy cast all together alongside himself and fellow DC boss Peter Safran. The post also revealed that Otis, the bungling lackey of Lex Luthor in the Richard Donner movies is in Legacy. We already knew Miss Tessmacher was in the film played by Sara Sampaio, pictured in the image. However, we now know that Terence Rosemore pictured right next to Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor is playing Otis.

I think readers will pretty much know who everyone else is in this image and who they are playing. But the character list is also there on the image below, taken directly from Instagram.

Superman

Cool looking cast, but of course what we are really waiting for is to see all these actors in costume. Hopefully once filming properly commences Gunn will throw us a bone and share a few images. Though I’m betting we won’t get to see the Superman costume without a big spread in a trade.

I do hope this is great. I must admit having Otis makes me sorta nervous as I didn’t care for the slapstick aspects of the OG Superman movie. Having the character does not mean the tone will be similar though. It’s not so much Otis himself as the fact I want a serious Lex Luthor. The saving grace perhaps is that Gunn’s favourite live-action Luthor is also mine. Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville.

Filming is expected to kick off very soon after this first table read. We also know there were a few actors who could not make the table read. Gunn had his wife, actress Jennifer Holland reading some parts, as was Freddie Stroma. Stroma and Holland will be back in the DCU within Peacemaker Season 2. However, Gunn confirmed neither of them appear in Legacy. Which roles and which actors were missing we don’t yet know. They could be filling in for several smaller parts rather than anyone significant missing.

With filming set to start soon, let’s hope we hear a lot more about Superman: Legacy prior to a trailer which likely won’t happen till early 2025. Just as long as we don’t know the entire plot, which these days I guess is asking a lot.
