Supernatural Star Gutted He's Not In The Winchesters Prequel

Supernatural may have ended but The CW has a prequel show called The Winchesters on the way. However, one Supernatural star is gutted about how he found out! The show will focus on the parents of Dean and Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles will reprise his role as Dean to narrate the show. Ackles and wife Danneel have been working on The Winchesters with Chaos Machine head of development Renee Reiff.

According to Deadline who first reported this prequel, The Winchesters, which has a script commitment, is written/executive produced by another Supernatural alum, former co-executive producer Robbie Thompson.

“After Supernatural wrapped its 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. Because like we say in the show, ‘nothing ever really ends, does it?’” Jensen Ackles told Deadline. “When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.”

As said up top, there is one Winchester who was gutted to hear the news through Twitter, and that’s Supernatural co-star Jared Padalecki, Who played Sam Winchester.

The Winchesters

Yeah, I can see that. Even if Padalecki was not going to be involved he would have surely liked to have heard from Ackles himself? Supernatural was a show I never got into, however I have friends who love it. As far as those friends are concerned, Ackles was the real star of the show rather than Padalecki. We also have the fact that Padalecki is now starring in and producing Walker. Although, Ackles hasn’t exactly been looking for work and will play Soldier Boy in Season 3 of The Boys.

Looks like the Winchesters are at odds with one another here. Though, you really do not need to have two narrators for show, so choosing one of them does seem easier. Not even telling Padalecki this show was a thing until he saw that Deadline report though, that’s cold.
