Sylvester Stallone has joined the cast of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Stallone posted to his Instagram account (the post has since been deleted) to announce the news. The two have worked together before as Stallone appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Starhawk, a member of the Ravagers. You can check out what he had to say below.
“Working with this incredible Director on this astounding project has made this an amazing year. I am a very lucky man to be surrounded by such talent.!”

Gunn returned Stallone’s appreciation in a post of his own which you can see below.
With this upcoming role, Stallone finds himself as part of both Marvel and DC’s big-screen universes. A nice addition to an already storied career. As for who Stallone will be playing in the film, that’s difficult to say. And considerably more difficult than the average mystery role as Gunn is directing, and he can pull some obscure characters from the pages of the comics.
I think Gunn had done well with the Guardians films, and am glad to have him back behind the camera for the upcoming third film. Considering his success with the Guardians, I am very interested to see how The Suicide Squad turns out.
