Taron Egerton In Talks To Star As Seymour In ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’ Remake

Some stories seem like they are going to be around forever. Take for example, The Little Shop of Horrors. This story about a geeky florist that finds out that his Venus flytrap speaks and sings. Originally it was a film that was made back in 1960 that was directed by Roger Corman. Then it was adapted into an off-Broadway musical comedy by the same name. Then in 1986, Warner Bros. Then based off of that another film was made in 1986 directed by Frank Oz. Although the like a lot of classic favorites, it initially received bad reviews from audiences then became a cult classic. The Broadway musical has toured worldwide and has won several awards.

Once again it looks like they are looking to reboot it once again. As far as casting according to Full Circle Cinema, Taron Egerton is in talks to take on the lead role in The Little Shop of Horrors. Egerton would probably star as Seymour Krelborn who was famously played by Rick Moranis in the 1986 film adaptation. An interesting note is that Egerton has previously played Krelborn in a regional production at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre Youth Theater in Aberyswyth, Wales back in 2007.

Since a lot of audiences started taking notice of Egerton in the Kingsman franchise he has worked on some amazing projects. He is fresh off his win for his lead role in the film Rocketman and he voices Rian in Netflix’s series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. According to Full Circle Cinema, he could be joined by Scarlett Johannson and Billy Porter who would probably take on the roles of Audrey and Audrey II.

This is a great classic film that I would be interested in seeing. In the film Seymour finds an alien Venus flytrap that can talk and sing. Taking place in New York, Seymour’s love his attractive co-worker Audrey, leads him to questionably name the plant, Audrey II. But the plant grows fast and as it gets bigger so does it’s appetite. Because of this, Seymour starts to feed the Audrey II humans starting with Audrey’s abusive boyfriend.
