The SNES was late to the 16-Bit era of video game consoles, but it came out swinging with the full force of a blue and red-suited plumber riding a dinosaur! The system boasted a massive library of 1,759 official titles (721 available in North America) and went on to sell over 49 million systems worldwide. That’s twice the amount of systems sold than the Original Xbox and 14 million more than its primary competitor, the SEGA Genesis. With strong 3rd party support, the power to port popular arcade games, and a slew of memorable titles, it’s not hard to see why this system did so well.
