As comic book readers know, Batman is known as the world’s greatest detective. I mean, you can’t be the star of a comic called Detective Comics without at least being kinda good at it, right? While that is the case, the actual amount of detecting done in the film adaptations has been minimal, with The Dark Knight perhaps showing the most detecting to date.
But what about an honest-to-goodness mystery story? Fans have been hungry to see that, and as far as we could tell, that’s exactly what we’d be getting with Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which is set to star Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader himself. But what would the story actually be about?

Scooper Daniel Richtman recently posted a YouTube video where the following details were revealed.
“The Batman will explore a detective case — when people start dying in strange ways, Batman must go deep into the dark world of Gotham to find clues and solve the mystery/conspiracy connected to Gotham City’s history and criminals. In the film, all of Batman Rogues Gallery are already out there and active, similar to the comics and animated shows/movies. The film will have multiple villains, as they are all suspects.”
While cool, nothing here really stands out. We knew already there’d be a mystery, and we also knew that there would be a lot of villains, which led many of us to assume it would have to do with a mystery that would lead Batman to the villains in his rogues’ gallery.
All the same, it’s just a little bit more in terms of details — if true, of course.
