1091 Pictures obtained the North American rights to military drama The Drummer.
The distribution studio expects to release with the timing to this year’s Veterans Day.
The film stars Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon franchise, 2012), alongside Prema Cruz (Instinct, Preacher), and Sam Underwood (Fear the Walking Dead, Dexter). The rest of the cast includes Daniel K. Isaac (Billions), Camilla Perez (Gotham), Frankie J. Alvarez (Looking), Jennifer Mudge (The Irishman), and Lillias White (Hercules).
Eric Werthman directed the full-length drama from the script written by Jessica Gohlke and Eric Werthman. Also, Glover serves as executive producer on the project.
The Drummer is three interwoven stories that reveal the traumatic effects of war on the psyches of veterans from different generations. Glover plays Mark Walker, a Vietnam war veteran turned lawyer and political advocate for soldiers who suffered from mental health issues after their duties with the Army. He works at The Drummer, a small anti-war coffee sho, where ex-soldiers meet up to express their issues of mental struggles and physical tolls that war had affected them.

“My brother was a Vietnam vet, given to the recent announcement that there are more veterans suicide than soldiers killed in Iraq makes the film The Drummer more timely than ever,” said Danny Glover in a statement.
The Drummer is available for purchase or rents starting on Veterans Day of November 9.
