Hollywood legend Nicolas Cage (I know what I said) takes viewers on an educational journey on the origin of cussing in Netflix‘s The History of Swear Words. The series will be shown in six episodes with each being 20 minutes. Along with Nicolas Cage, the series will have appearances from Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Jim Jefferies, and Nikki Glaser among others.
Experts such as the authors Benjamin Bergen and Elvis Mitchell; who wrote What The F and Holy Sh*t: A Brief History of Swearing, along with linguist Anne Charity Hudley. You can check out a trailer for The History of Swear Words below.

What a fantastic f***ing opening to the trailer. I will surely be checking this out as I am a fan of these somewhat forbidden words. However, I am of the opinion that they have a time and place where they can be helpful in putting a much-needed emphasis on one’s speech. On the other hand, they can also be overused to a point where it becomes off-putting.
I’m not sure if a film or television series has covered the history of swear words in general. However, I do remember a documentary from about 15 years ago that focused on the history of one specific swear word. The film’s title is the word. It’s four letters. If you choose to look it up and read about it, I would suggest searching through IMDb and not through a regular search engine.
