‘The Mandalorian’ Chapter 14 The Tragedy Reaction [Spoiler Warning]

The Mandalorian Moff Gideon

The most recent episode of The Mandalorian was something fans of the original trilogy have been wanting to see for a long time.  Robert Rodriguez direction for this episode brought a ferocity that some fans have been wanting to see for a long time.

This is your last warning if you haven’t seen the latest episode of The Mandalorian….

Chapter 14 The Tragedy was the shortest episode in the shows running but filled with the most action.  Robert Rodriguez was the director for this episode and he definitely left his mark on the Star Wars universe. The episode was filled from start to finish with suspense and action that had never been seen before except in the animated shows.  Due to the fact that all the movies are rated PG except for Revenge of the Sith is PG-13, the violence and action limited to just simple blaster shots with no major effects from them.

Of course the biggest reason why fans are so excited for this show is the live-action return of Boba Fett with his armor.  What had only been done in comic books and novels we finally got to see Temuera Morrison back in Mandalorian armor.  Also we go to see Boba Fett in action which did not disappoint as the top bounty hunter from the original trilogy decimated a regiment of Storm Troopers by himself.

I was quite surprised that Din Djarin was able to make it to Tython so easily.  Part of me was expecting Moff Gideon would intercept the Razor Crest before Grogu could make it to the Jedi Temple. That was not the case and Din was able to put Grogu on the seeing stone. The purpose of getting to the temple so fast was so the majority of the episode would focus on the return of Boba Fett and the new alliance between him and Din Djarin.  We also got a second surprise of the return of Fennec, the assassin left for dead on Tatooine from the first season.  This return finally confirmed that it was Boba who saved Fennec and made her into half machine. As easy as it was for Boba to find the Razor Crest it was easier for Moff Gideon to find them as well.

This is where we got the greatest 15 minutes of Star Wars action in history. Seeing Boba Fett literally destroy a regiment of Stormtroopers with a gaffi stick was amazing.  This is where Robert Rodriquez style made this episode absolutely amazing.  His style of action focuses more on the brutality of violence.  This was exemplified when a Stormtroopers helmet was destroyed after being clubbed by Boba’s gaffi stick.  Watching this action scene was amazing and something that I have always wondered if we would ever get to see in live action.  The closest we ever got to this type of violence in live-action were fan films. The only issue I had with this scene was with the Stormtroopers blaster aim.  They couldn’t hit Boba or Fennec to save their lives but the minute Din Djarin shows up they are hitting bullseye’s.  To me it is just a gimmick now that he has all that beskar armor.

While all the action was focused on the bounty hunters, Grogu appeared to be sending a message to all Force users in the galaxy.  With a Force barrier surrounding the youngling, Grogu was in a state of meditation that seemed to allow Grogu to contact other Jedi. In proper storytelling the amount of time it was needed for Grogu to contact other Force users it allowed Moff Gideon to deploy the much anticipated Dark Troopers. With only a short glimpse of them before we finally got to see them in action for a brief time.  The intriguing fact about them is they appear to be robotic and not actual trained humans.  There is a possibility that they could be from the same style that General Grievous was made being a mixture of robotics and humans.  It looks like we will be seeing more of the Dark Troopers in action during the final two episodes.

Reaction

This season has yet to disappoint at any level.  For a lot of the older generation Star Wars fans this is what we had been waiting for.  Action that really showed how bad ass these characters really were.  While I had been hoping for the return of Boba Fett for some time, this was the perfect way to bring him back.  While we got to see a young Boba in The Clone Wars animated series there was always the wondering if he did truly survive the Sarlaac Pit from Return of the Jedi. Having Temuera Morrison come back to play Boba Fett was the perfect

Seeing the return of Moff Gideon and the Dark Troopers shows that we are close to the end game for this season.  With Gideon now in possession of Grogu he will be able to continue his experiments on the youngling.  The final minutes of the episode revealed that Grogu gets tired from using excessive amounts of the Force which might be a result from his previous experiments. It seems that the final two episodes will be a race against time for Din Djarin to save Grogu.

Overall Score: A+

What do you think about the last episode? Were you excited as I was to see Ahsoka?
