A few weeks back, it was reported that NBC was moving forward with a revival of their hit, long-running series, The Office. Over the course of its nine seasons, it became a huge part of the average American TV diet, and thus planning a new series for a current audience seemed like a smart move in the age of revivals.
But would its core cast return? That is the big question. When the revival was first announced, it was revealed that the series would be a mix of new and old faces — but other than Steve Carell NOT joining up, we really had no idea just who to expect.
Speaking at the TV Critics Association press tour, actress Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam in the show, was asked if she would be about whether or not she’d be involved, she claimed ignorance on the matter.
“I don’t know anything about The Office revival. I know as much as everyone else. But no. I think that’s for networks to figure out if I were to be asked. But I haven’t been approached about it. But I love Pam, oh my God!”
Given that a lot of the main actors have moved on to bigger and more creative things since The Office ended (Jenna Fischer in Splitting Up Together, John Krasinski in Jack Ryan, and Steve Carell in everything), it seems unlikely that most of the main players will be back, but you never know. In today’s landscape of shorter seasons, networks are more willing than ever to work around actors’ busy schedules.
