The She-Hulk Disney+ Series Has Found Its Lead

Marvel's She-Hulk show

Get ready to Hulk out — or She-Hulk-out, rather — because Disney+ has found its lead. According to THR, Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany will be taking on the role of Jennifer Walters. In the comic books, Jennifer is an attorney, as well as the cousin of one Bruce Banner, who we all know and love as the Hulk.

After suffering from an accident, Jennifer requires a blood transfusion, and as you’d expect, Bruce is the only one who can give it. Luckily for her, unlike Bruce, she was able to keep her personality fairly intact, with green skin and extra physical prowess being the main side effects. This has been an in-development project for some time, and it’s great to see that Tatiana Maslany has taken on the lead role.

Maslany is likely best known for her work on Orphan Black, where she played Sarah Manning, in addition to several characters over the course of the five-season show. She has also appeared in such shows as Parks and Recreation, Alphas, and Perry Mason.

She-Hulk’s writing room is led by Rick and Morty scribe Jessica Gao. Acting as director of several episodes, including the pilot, is The Kids Are Alright and Modern Family director Kat Coiro. She-Hulk is one of several series Marvel Studios is putting out on Disney+, and like the MCU films, they will fit into the overall narrative completely.

As of this writing, we don’t know if Bruce Banner will be set to appear, though actor Mark Ruffalo has teased such an appearance in the past. Given the backstory of Jennifer Walters, it would seem a bit odd not to have Bruce in the actual show. However, given how much money it would cost to place a legit Hulk in what is effectively a TV show, I still find it hard to imagine.
