Saddle up!

The trailer for the western film, The Sisters Brothers has been released. The film follows the Sisters brothers, Charlie and Eli, who are contract killers in search of a prospector who has stolen a formula that from their employer that illuminates gold when the solution is placed in a river at night. Charlie and Eli will do their best to hunt down the man in an attempt to bring the stolen formula back to their boss.

The film has a great cast in Phoenix, Reilly, Gyllenhaal, and Ahmed and the chase plot is interesting enough. It’s not often nowadays a western film has such high profile names (excluding Christian Bale in last year’s Hostiles). I am down for some western themed fun, especially with Reilly and Phoenix already showing some great on-screen chemistry.

The Sisters Brothers is directed by Jacques Audiard from a screenplay he co-wrote with Thomas Bidegain and is based on a novel of the same name by author Patrick DeWitt. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly as Charlie and Eli Sisters, along with Jake Gyllenhaal. Also appearing in the film are Riz Ahmed, Rutger Hauer, and Carol Kane.

While a release date has not been specified, the film is expected to premiere later this year.
