Whether you loved it or hated it, Suicide Squad made some money for WB. It made enough of an impact that at one point Joker and Harley Quinn were going to be getting their own film, Harley would be getting two or three movies with herself and other females, Deadshot would be getting a spin-off, and of course, there would be a direct sequel to Suicide Squad. Then came Justice League and the world of the DCEU began to crumble.

No matter your view on the DCUE, it hasn’t been a commercial success and it has divided the DC fandom. Some will point to Aquaman and Wonder Woman as examples of great DC films and others will swear that the extended cuts of Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad are actually watchable and enjoyable. However, the numbers don’t lie, and as far as WB is concerned, things are not so sunny in DC-town.

This brings us to the soft reboot sequel to Suicide Squad known as The Suicide Squad. It’s being directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and will star a few returning actors like Jai Courtney, Margot Robbie, and Viola Davis. It also has a slew of newcomers in Taika Waititi, Idris Elba, John Cena, Pete Davidson, and Nathan Fillion. Everyone could assume that the returning cast would have similar looks to their original turns in character, but what about the newbies? Well, check out the tweet below for an idea…

There you go. Loads of different characters in different costumes. Without seeing them in post, there’s no way of knowing what the final looks will actually be, but if these costumes are any indication to the tone of the film, we’re in for a completely different take on the team. The best thing that can be hoped for is a unique experience that is created cohesively by the writers and directors and suffers from little to no studio interference.
