This Covid-19 thing is bringing out the worst in all of us.

Theater owners are not too happy about the news that Disney’s Mulan will head straight to on demand streaming with Disney+.

With that move, the anticipated Mulan will be skipping the big screen entirely. Theater owners around the world will lose all revenues from a potential blockbuster or any potential revenue for a pandemic-era film.

One theater owner in France posted a viral video to social media to vent his anger and frustration. After months of promoting Mulan with posters and displays, the theater owner decided to take it down in his own fashion. With a cricket bat, he destroys the Mulan pop-up display in his theater lobby.

The Twitter video was posted to Destination Cine’s account with a message in French that is translated, “Operator’s reaction to Disney’s decision…#Mulan.”

Deadline has identified the theater owner as Gerard Lemoine of Cinepal in Palaiseau, south of Paris.

“It’s really a huge effort to stay open right now for most of us, but we were assuming there would be some ambitious movie releases in the coming weeks,” Lemoine told Deadline. “By losing Mulan, we lost the possibility of offering our audiences a long-awaited film that would have helped us after these past hard weeks. It is also a bad message to send to the public.”

On Twitter, the viral video has nearly garnered a million views.

The move by Disney may be the next nail in the coffin for movie houses. Universal bypassed the theaters by launching Trolls World Tour and You Should Have Left to video on demand. It sparked a war between the studio and AMC Theaters, which resulted in shortening the window for theatrical release for the two companies.

Disney+ launches Mulan on September 4 for $29.99. Viewers must have a Disney+ subscription in order to buy the film at premium price and owns it as long as the viewer remains a subscriber.
