This Disney+ Movie DESTROYED The Netflix Competition By A Wide Margin

Disney+ managed to overtake the best Netflix films last month.

The Streaming Wars are well underway. With Peacock now out, it seems that all major contenders have finally thrown their hats into the ring. It’s now time for the all-out brawl to commence. Which of these services will come out on top as the most profitable streaming service? As of this writing, the service with a sizable lead is none other than Netflix. They’ve been around for the longest and they’ve invested billions of dollars in original content.

But, in spite of their clear advantage so far, there’s one Disney+ movie that absolutely destroyed  the other services, including Netflix. I’ll admit, the word “movie” is a bit misleading, but it’s the word being used to describe the project by Disney+ itself, so I’ll run with it. The movie in question is Hamilton. This nearly three-hour Broadway recording trounced the competition in July, with its audience making up 37.1% of the audience share as tracked by 7Park Data.

This is nearly three times the number of audiences who checked out the second most-watched thing last month: Unsolved Mysteries. The rebooted true crime show had 13.7% audience share across all platforms. It’s honestly a respectable audience share. In June of this year, the top-performing show was Space Force with 8.3% audience share. In July, all top four shows, including Hamilton have shares higher than Space Force did.

Hamilton’s success isn’t a huge surprise. The Broadway musical was a big hit years before when it hit stages. It was set to be an inevitable success when it did. Millions and millions had enjoyed the music via the album, but most couldn’t afford the hundreds of dollars it took to make it out to a Broadway show. With that in mind, a Disney+ subscription was the next best viable option. And given the fact that it’s an election year certainly helped things. However, seeing these numbers has to be satisfying for Disney, who likely spent a whole lotta money to lock down the Hamilton rights.

Are you surprised by how much Disney+ and Hamilton outclassed its Netflix competition? Sound off down below!
