Timothy Olyphant Cast As Synthetic In Noah Hawley’s Alien Series

Actor Timothy Olyphant has been cast as a synthetic in Noah Hawley's Alien series.

Actor Timothy Olyphant has been cast as a synthetic in Noah Hawley’s Alien series. That’s what Deadline reports and although his character is undisclosed the trade has heard a few details about his role. Hawley’s series is one of two Alien projects in active development. The other is the new movie from Fede Alvarez called Alien: Romulus, so far we know only that this movie is set in between Alien and Aliens. As for Hawley’s series, it seems it will be a prequel to even the original Alien in terms of the timeline.

Here are the details reported by the trade.

‘Timothy Olyphant is reuniting with Noah Hawley and FX, signing on for a major role in the upcoming Alien series. Olyphant, who recurred on Season 4 of Hawley’s FX anthology series Fargo, is set to star opposite Sydney Chandler in Hawley‘s prequel to the Alien franchise, sources tell Deadline.’

‘Details about Olyphant’s character are not being disclosed. I hear he plays Kirsh, a synth who acts as a mentor and trainer for Chandler’s Wendy who is a hybrid, a meta-human who has the brain and consciousness of a child but the body of an adult.’

Bear in mind that this is a TV series. Therefore, has to have more character drama outside of Xenomorph hunting season. It seems this set up of Olyphant’s Kirsh and Wendy will have much more to. Or at least, more to it than them just being survivors or victims. With so little context though it’s hard to gauge too much of an opinion.

I love Alien and Aliens, and I was a fan of the comics that came after this. However, Alien 3 and then every film after that failed to ignite my interest. The origin lore developed in Prometheus and Covenant was to me just less interesting than the old comic books. In fact, the only Alien property I’ve enjoyed since Aliens was the Alien: Isolation video game. That felt like it fit perfectly with the rest of the series and also took place in between Alien and Aliens.

What do you think of the news Timothy Olyphant has been cast as a synthetic in Noah Hawley’s Alien series? As usual, let us know below, and what would interest you in future stories from this universe?
