Toriyama Officially Canonizes Broly in Dragon Ball Super: Broly Trailer | SDCC 2018

San Diego Comic-Con is not just for fans of western entertainment as the Funimation panel demonstrated earlier today. With Dragon Ball Super ending earlier this year, fans have been eagerly awaiting more information about the film adaptation that was teased shortly after the conclusion of the “Tournament of Power” arc. Wait no more, Funimation dropped this trailer while not showing much information regarding the series is enough to get fans Kamehameha-ing.

One of the biggest information drops comes from the title alone. The film titled Dragon Ball Super: Broly officially canonizes Dragon Ball’s nonofficial favorite character. Broly has been a part of the Xenoverse since 1994’s Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly which was not created by Dragon Ball’s founder Akira Toriyama making him an unofficial character. From the trailer, it appears that fans will finally be able to see Broly in his full power as he spars against Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza. With this untapped power level, he will truly be a formidable foe for the main cast of the franchise.

Besides that, there is not a whole lot of information revealed though this is the first full trailer released for the for the film. It was previously established that the film was released on December 14th for Japan but this trailer announced the American release date of January 2019. This will likely be later in that month as films rarely receive a first week of January release date unless the studio just wants to dump the film to save the cost of production.
