Trailer: Dora And The Lost City of Gold

This is happening. I think it’s a little late for it, but it’s coming nonetheless. Yesterday I got to report on Danny Trejo announcing he would be providing the voice for Boots in Dora and the Lost City of Gold. Today I bring you the trailer for the movie from Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures.

The movie looks like a Robert Rodriguez Spy Kids film meets Tomb Raider and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Not sure if it’s a good thing or bad thing, but that’s what I got from this trailer. In it, we learn that Dora (Isabela Moner) is a fan of exploring which is shared with her parents played by Eva Longoria and Michael Peña. Her family goes missing while searching for the Lost City of Gold and Dora deals with going to a regular high school. Dora and a group of friends go to save Dora’s parents and discover the golden city.

I am sure that kids will love this film and it may be enjoyed by teenagers that grew up watching the original cartoon, Dora The Explorer. However, I don’t think it will grab audiences the way Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle did. That film had the nostalgia from the first film helping it but was really boosted by Kevin Heart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s presence. The trailer for Jumamji sold me on the first viewing, this movie did not. I hope it all the success in the world though!
