A few weeks ago we had speculated that the Justice League trailer would drop at the Warner Bros. Pictures presentation at Wondercon. Although they did show it, it was not one of the two focal points of the evening. The presentation was moderated by Tiffany Smith who is very well known as a host on DC All Access. The packed area was anxiously waiting to see what surprises Warner Bros. Pictures had in store for them. Everyone knew that we were going to be treated to some great Wonder Woman footage, but that would have to wait as the presentation started with the terrifying prequel Annabelle: Creation.
On stage to talk about the film was director David Sandberg who had a one on one with Tiffany Smith to talk about the film. They talked a lot about the creative process of making a scary film and how a lot of films are starting to go back to those thrilling moments that lead up to that scare that audiences love, instead of using too gore which became popular for some time.
With that the crowd was treated to an exclusive look at a scene from Annabelle: Creation. The scene featured a little girl who sneaks goes into a room where Annabelle is locked in a closet. The room looks like an abandoned child’s room that hadn’t been used for a long time. After examining a doll house, the girl discovers a closet which of course she opens to discover none other than Annabelle. She attempts several times to close the door and walk away only to have the door open again even after she had locked it. At that point she throws a sheet over the doll and walks away, and of course as she walks away the doll beings to walk after her. When she turns and sees that she had been followed, the girl proceeds to remove the sheet from over her stalker, and to everyone’s surprise, there was nothing.
What made this scene very good to me was how well Sandberg had all of us in the audience so tense waiting for the scare, only to be left with quite a bit of excitement and relief running through our bodies. Soon after that we were treated to the release of the first official trailer for Annabelle: Creation. You can check it out below as it was released online afterwards.
By the looks of the trailer it seems to have a really good back story. By what we heard from the panel it seems that the film is going to be full of surprises that will have us leaping out of our seats. Dolls are creepy and this one is no exception.
