Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director Jason Reitman had this to say about the film:
“There was a moment when Gary Hart looked like he was going to be the next president of the United States. And within a week he was out of the race and never ran again.”
I’ve never heard of Gary Hart, but I will watch Jackman in most anything as long as he isn’t singing (he has a great voice, just not a fan of musicals). I am very much interested in the events that caused Hart’s campaign to crash and burn. The film has a great cast and I have already added this to my queue.
The Front Runner is directed by Jason Reitman from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jay Carson and Matt Bai. The film is based off a novel by Bai titled All the Truth is Out: The Week Politics Went Tabloid and stars Hugh Jackman,Vera Farmiga, and Sara Paxton. With appearances from J.K. Simmons, veteran actor Kevin Pollak (#1 Christopher Walken impression!) along with comedian Bill Burr.
The Front Runner will be released November 21.
