In an interview earlier this year, J.J. Abrams (who produced Overlord), called the film, “batsh*t crazy,” and his description seems to be spot on. From the trailer, the abnormalities were the results of super soldier experiments gone awry. Abrams has said this film is not part of the Cloverfield franchise, as many first suspected, but that work on a fourth film in that series is underway.

Mixing the genres of horror, sci-fi, and war-time dramas, Overlord looks to be a fun, and dark ride into this latest take on the idea of World War II zombies.

Overlord is produced by J.J. Abrams. The film was directed by Julius Avery from a screenplay co-written by Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith. The film stars Wyatt Russell, Bokeem Woodbine, and Pilou Asbæk.

Overlord is released on October 26.
