Universal, Producers Amy Pascal And Chris Morgan Option Unreleased Debut Novel By Alexandra Andrews

Foreseeing a potential hit and competition, Universal Studios has optioned the yet-to-be-released novel from former ProPublica editor and reporter Alexandra Andrews. The project, from the novel titled Under Another Name, will be produced by Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal and Fast & Furious producer Chris Morgan.

Deadline reported the news of the optioned project on Tuesday. The site explained the novel as follows:

The novel is described as a taut and twisty, character-driven novel, and is tentatively set for publication in March 2021 by Little Brown in the U.S., Tinder Press in the UK, and in a dozen languages around the globe.

Andrews is known for her time as a reporter at ProPublica and as a commercial copywriter before moving with her husband and daughter to Paris, where she went on to write her novel. Joining Pascal and Morgan in producing will be Ainsley Davies through Universal’s Chris Morgan Productions.

Pascal has had quite a successful and enjoyable year in her producing career. She is the producer of both the Oscar-winning animated hit Spider-Man: Into The SpiderVerse and the MCU box office juggernaut Spider-Man: Far From Home. Next up for Pascal, she is producing two-time Oscar-nominated Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women, due out Christmas Day. Gerwig directed and penned the screenplay for this iteration of the classic novel. Pascal is producing Little Women and the future production of Under Another Name under her company, Pascal Pictures.

Aside from the novel’s release in March of 2021, there is no set date for production on Under Another Name.
