The Xbox Series X of video game consoles are set to be released in roughly a month’s time. A select number of lucky individuals have been given early access to the console. While most of the feedback is what gamers want to hear, there seems to be one issue that could cause problems for both gamers and Microsoft.
Ken Bogard of Jeux Video says the console is nearly silient but also puts out a good deal of heat, enough to heat your apartment. Bogard said he wasn’t even running one of the games for the new platform. You can check out what he had to say below.
“The Series X is hot, like really hot. It doesn’t make any noise, but damn it’s hot! The console is emitting heat like crazy. It’s almost like a fireplace shaft. You can heat up your flat with it.”

Others have reported the same heat issue. Jeff Bakkalar of Giant Bomb said the console was ‘toasty’ while in standby mode, and that it was too hot to touch. Check it out below.
“Here’s what’s crazy… this was just plugged in in standby mode behind me and you guys, the entire thing is a little toasty. It seems like in the way like a lot of the other consoles were doing stuff while you were not using them, it seems like this thing might be doing something while you’re not using it, to the point where it needs to exhaust heat.”
As ComicBook.com pointed out, heat coming out of the console is better than the heat staying in. However, the issue is the high temperature being present during what is less stressful tasks.
I have some experience with hot consoles. One day I powered up my Xbox One and heard a pop. A few seconds later smoke started coming out of the console. I quickly turned off and contacted Microsoft. To be fair my consoles was about three-years-old .After dozens of questions, they offered to repair it for $115 and said it would take about six weeks. I declined as I could buy a used one with a slightly higher price tag and have it the same day.
No official statement on this reported issue has been given by Microsoft.
The Xbox Series X has a release date of November 10.
