Virtual Crunchyroll Expo Announces Next Wave of Guests and Panels!

Hello, anime fans! Hopefully you have heard about the Virtual Crunchyroll Expo (V-CRX) taking place September 4–6. If not, and you enjoy your anime, I would definitely check into it. Crunchyroll has already announced an impressive list of guests, and as of today, they have announced another wave of guests and panels. Any fans of The God of High School, GIBIATE, and So I’m a Spider, So What? will be excited for this wave. So let’s jump right into the next wave.

Crunchyroll Originals

Crunchyroll has really come into the anime spotlight this year with the release of several original anime. And it looks like we will get a unique look behind the scenes of a lot of these anime. Yongje Park, creator/author of The God of High School, has been added to the guest list, which I’m very excited about. V-CRX will also give an exclusive virtual tour of the Studio MAPPA art gallery. The tour will include behind-the-scenes artwork from popular series including The God of High School and video messages from various artists and creators.

Also announced is a discussion featuring the creative talent behind the upcoming Crunchyroll Original series GIBIATE, including director and character designer Masahiko Komino, and voice actor Soma Saito. V-CRX also plans to show the world premiere of GIBIATE episode 9. I am hearing a lot of talk about GIBIATE, so I may just have to catch up on this one before that episode premiere.

Tsukara Kiryu, the light novel illustrator of So I’m a Spider, So What? will be joining previously announced author, Okina Baba.

To add to the list, Yoshikatsu Kimura, the director of EX-ARM will make an appearance along with writer Jeho Son. Seasoned voice actor Patrick Saitz will be in attendance and Kwangsu Lee, the artist for Noblesse will also be in attendance. And lastly for the originals, Arthell Isom, CEO of D’ART Shtajio will be a guest as well. That’s a lot of guests.

JAPANAMERICA

V-CRX also announced Roland Kelts, author of JAPANAMERICA, for a discussion on race in anime. This book discusses how Japanese pop culture has invaded the U.S. in recent years. I’ve been meaning to pick this one up, so I’m looking forward to hearing Roland talk about his book.

Crunchyroll-Hime’s Cosplay Cup

Also on the itinerary for V-CRX is the Crunchyroll-Hime’s Cosplay Cup. Crunchyroll-Hime’s Cosplay Cup will be a celebration of fan-created costumes from anime and anime-inspired series. Crunchyroll has announced two more judges for the cosplay celebration. Rock M. Sakura and Kamui Cosplay will join Creature of Habit and God Save the Queen as judges. The Cosplay Cup will take place Saturday, September 5.

It’s Free!

Registration for V-CRX is open at crunchyrollexpo.com. Crunchyroll is encouraging anyone interested to sign up for a free pass for this year’s event to catch all the action, announcements, guest panels, and more. Seems like a good bang for your buck if you ask me, and they seem to have a little something for everyone. I plan on checking it out. Plus, it will be cool to see how Crunchyroll embraces the digital format for their convention. I’m glad to see these conventions continuing to take place one way or another, and here’s to hoping V-CRX will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you catch my drift.

So what do you guys think? Are you planning to check out Crunchyroll Expo? Continue the discussion with us in the comments below!
