Want To Know The Hellboy Run Time?

I’ll be the first to admit that I have never read a Hellboy comic. I am a fan of the original movie and its sequel though and I didn’t really want a reboot. However, a reboot is upon us and when it was first announced it was sold to us as a darker and more violent version of the franchise. Then came the first trailer… That made the film seem like a near exact copy of tone and look to the Guillermo Del Toro films. It was disappointing to say the least, because why remake something so close to the original but sell it as if it’s something different? Why not just let Del Toro make the third film in his series? Where’s all the blood and violence? Then came the second trailer…

The second trailer showed us a lot more of the story, violence, blood, and curse words. No, not magical curses but bad words like (Redacted), (Redacted), and my personal favorite (Redacted). The second trailer made me interested, but it hasn’t sold me yet and I am not sure if the run time builds any more hope. Thanks to Anton Volkov of Trailer Track we know that this new film will clock in at 120 minutes.

The Del Toro original came in at 132 minutes and its sequel 121 minutes. It’s not that the new movie is too short in general, I just wonder how much action, story, and character development we will get to separate it from its predecessors. If the timing is so similar will the mix of those three elements also be similar? These are the ridiculous thoughts that cross my mind.

The movie hits on April 12th and stars David Harbor (Stranger Things) in the title role. It’s directed by Neil Marshall
