If you’re reading this, chances are you aren’t ridiculously wealthy. I only say that because statistically, there are far fewer wealthy people than there are not wealthy. Well, if that describes you, then people like Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas are laughing at you. Seriously. In the new Steven Soderbergh film, The Laundromat, which dives into the world of white-collar crime.
In the film, we see two Panama City law partners, played by Oldman and Banderas, laughing their way to the bank. But with an investigator on their tail (played by Meryl Streep), their world is about to come crashing down.
Below is the official synopsis for The Laundromat:
“A widow (Meryl Streep) investigates an insurance fraud, chasing leads to a pair of Panama City law partners (Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas) exploiting the world’s financial system. Steven Soderbergh directs.”
With this movie, it almost seems like Soderbergh is taking a page out of Adam McKay’s book here with the tone and style.
