Some Wheel of Time news dropped this week, Season 3 wraps filming, there’s new casting details and we also have Season 3 episode titles. First off though was the news from the official social media account that Season 3 has finally wrapped. The final filming location of the shoot was in South Africa, and that has now ended. Of course this begs the question of when we could see Season 3 on Amazon Prime. Well, don’t expect it anytime soon. The best current estimate, based on post production times in S1/S2, is Summer of 2025. Season 3 of The Wheel of Time is an adaptation of the fourth book of the series, The Shadow Rising. This is commonly regarded by book fans as one of the best books in the series.

We also have some casting news for Season 3. According to WOTSeries a role from previous seasons has a new actor. This is likely not a replacement though. The outlet says we will see a different version of Latra in Season 3.

‘Now we have news that actor Ania Marson will play the role of “Latra” in season 3, according to her CV and agency website. That is most definitely “Latra Posae Decume,” Age of Legends Aes Sedai, who appeared in the cold open for episode 108 with Lews Therin.’

‘We do not believe Marson will replace Katie Brayben, who played Latra in season 1. The casting is most likely for Latra years or decades later. This is supported by a recent change to Katie Brayben’s resume, which shows an updated Wheel of Time entry with the date now listed as 2024, which suggests that she too should appear in season 3:’

So, what it seems we are getting here is an older version of Latra for some scenes. Most likely this will be flashbacks that relate to the Aiel and their history. It is likely that an older version of Latra appears after the Breaking. Whereas any flashbacks to Latra and Lews Therin, like Season 1 will be Katie Brayben.

We also have some officially revealed episode titles for Season 3. As per WOTSeries also, here are some episode titles and the directors who helmed them.

301: To Race the Shadow – Justine Juel Gillmer

302: A Question of Crimson – Katherine B. McKenna

307: Goldeneyes – Dave Hill

308: He Who Comes With the Dawn – Justine Juel Gillmer

I think I could likely point to several events that will happen in Episodes 7 & 8 based on the titles. I’m less sure of what to expect from Episodes 1 & 2.

Finally there are some hints appearing in official tweets and other social media. Keen eyed fans are convinced Wheel of Time Season 4 has been greenlit and an announcement is forthcoming. However, we will wait and see on that one. I always felt Season 4 would get the go ahead, so best to wait for the official announcement.
