The biggest question for every soccer (or football for non-Americans) fan is when are we going to see our favorite coach, Ted Lasso, back on the pitch? While there have only been two seasons of the hit show, the first season premiered back in August of 2020, and the second season in July 2021. With production starting back in January of this year most fans expected the return of Ted Lasso around this time. With no recent announcement from AppleTV+, it seems that we will have to set our hopes for the fall of 2022.

If I had to guess, it looks like the third season of Ted Lasso will be airing during late fall/early winter for the holidays. Production for the third season did not get started until March this year which was a later start than the previous seasons. No reason was given on why production started later for the show. Maybe the writers wanted to make sure everything was lined up for what is expected as the final season.
We can only assume that season 3 will pick up where season 2 left off for the team. Of course, the biggest surprise was seeing Nate as the new head coach of Newcastle. With AFC Richmond now promoted back to the Premier League it is only inevitable that Coach Lasso and Coach Nate will square off on the pitch more than likely for the Premier League Title.
The biggest question any fan of Ted Lasso has in regards to the third season is will it be the last. According to the star himself Jason Sudeikis, he has always thought of the arc of the show to be three seasons. While that may have been the original plan for the show, there is a growing swell of fans that hope that it’s not the last. That hope though got a burst this past week when Brett Goldstein aka Roy Kent and one of the Ted Lasso writers confirmed to the UK website The Times that the third season of the Apple TV Plus series is being written like it’s the last
“We are writing it like that,” Goldstein told The Times. He later joked about how the show would end following the conclusion of Ted Lasso season 3. “It was planned as three. Spoiler alert — everyone dies.”
In my opinion, I do hope that this is the last season. It would be a fitting ending to see Coach Lasso come back to the US and be with his son. Maybe the last scene could be Lasso coaching his son in soccer still not understanding what offsides are. Either way, it will be great to see the AFC Richmond crew back on the pitch.
